A brand new Carnival Curriculum to help primary schools emerge and educate their pupils in the culture and history of Notting Hill Carnival

Carnival Village Trust are delighted to announce a selection of brand new educational programmes aimed at primary schools (key stage 2) to help them immerse their pupils into the sights, sounds and stories of Notting Hill Carnival.

Starting from September 2025, through a specially developed Carnival Curriculum, children will explore the history, music and artistry of Carnival whilst also reflecting on what it means to grow up in a post-Windrush, intercultural Britain.

Packages are FREE and schools can apply by contacting cydney@carnivalvillage.org.uk. They take place at The Tabernacle (London W11) and The YAA Centre (London W9).

A  short overview about the programme can be found below, but for more details please download this document

  • All packages are FREE of charge but the number of sessions are limited

  • The programmes work in line with the Department Of Education's history framework and in line with the national curriculum

  • Activities are led by experts in their field of carnival arts

  • Pupils are engaged through practical activities, engaging visual content and expert talks

  • The initiative will culminate in an Annual Schools Exhibition that will display the pupils' creative work at The Tabernacle and will be open to the public
